Age = end date − start date, in years, months and days
The difference is counted on the calendar, borrowing the real length of each month. It is not computed by dividing a number of days.
Total weeks = floor(total days ÷ 7)
Every calendar day between the two dates counts once, including leap days. The total is then divided by seven for whole weeks.
Next birthday = next occurrence of month/day; 29 Feb → 28 Feb
If the birthday has already passed in the reference year, the following year is used. A 29 February birthday is treated as 28 February in non-leap years.
A reference date exactly on the birthday.
The age is exactly 25 years. The next birthday is 1 January 2026.
Someone born on 29 February 2000, measured on 28 February 2023.
In non-leap years the anniversary is treated as 28 February, so the age and the countdown stay consistent.
Months are borrowed from the calendar, so 31 January to 1 March is one month and one day, not a fixed 30-day span.
A person born on 29 February is treated as having their anniversary on 28 February in non-leap years. The same rule is used for the age and for the next-birthday countdown.
The calculator works with whole calendar dates. Times of day, time zones and daylight-saving changes cannot shift the result by a day.
A date of birth after the reference date is reported as an error instead of producing a negative age.
The calculator counts whole years first, then whole months, then the remaining days on the calendar. For example, 31 January to 1 March is one month and one day in a leap year.
That ignores leap years and the different lengths of months, so it drifts by days over a lifetime. The calendar method reports the age people actually use.
In non-leap years the anniversary is treated as 28 February. This applies both to the age and to the countdown to the next birthday.
It uses the calendar dates you enter, and “today” is taken from your device’s local date. No UTC conversion is applied, so the result cannot shift by a day because of a time zone.
It sets the reference date. Leave it empty to use today, or enter a past or future date to see the age on that day.
The main result shows years and the remaining months. Total months adds them together (years × 12 + months), which is useful for forms and comparisons.
